Monkstown Institution

I arrived in Monkstown Rectory and the last of the packing boxes have been relegated to the garage and most things have found a new home!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the glebewardens, churchwardens and Select Vestry for all their hard work in preparing the house and the church for my arrival and institution.  Any house move is a mammoth logistical operation and coupled with an arrival just before Holy Week and Easter adds to the organised chaos.

The institution ceremony on Monday 29 February was a lovely occasion and Canon Aisling Shine’s sermon is still been commented upon.  My thanks to her, the rural dean, the Revd. Ian Gallagher and the organist and choir for the parts they played so beautifully on the night.

My thanks to the Venerable Gordon Linney and others who took such good care of the parish during the vacancy.  My thanks also to Liz Neill-Watson, our parish administrator for all her support during the transition period and since; as we look towards the liturgical and operational events of Easter and beyond.  The involvement of so many people who take such care and responsibility in the day to day running of the parish is indeed a blessing and of great encouragement.   I have met a number of parishioners over the past couple of weeks and look forward to getting to know many more over the weeks and months ahead.  We especially remember in our thoughts and prayers the sick at home and those who are currently in hospital. We pray God’s blessing on them and all who anticipate the joys of Easter and the resurrection hope.

With prayerful good wishes and every blessing
